1. Purpose

This Work Instruction provides detailed operational guidance for performing the risk classification of Artificial Intelligence systems used, developed or deployed by Firmă demonstrativă.

The instruction ensures that every AI system is classified consistently, objectively and in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (EU AI Act).

2. Preconditions

Before starting the assessment, verify that:

the AI system exists in the AI System Inventory;
the AI system owner has been identified;
the intended purpose is documented;
sufficient technical and business information is available.

4. Work Instructions

Step 1

Open:

REG-001_AI_System_Inventory_Register.md

Locate the AI system to be assessed.

Step 2

Review the intended purpose.

Determine:

why the AI system exists;
who uses it;
what decisions it supports;
whether decisions affect natural persons.

Step 3

Determine the EU AI Act category.

Evaluate whether the AI system falls into:

Prohibited AI Practices;
High-Risk AI Systems;
Limited-Risk AI Systems;
Minimal-Risk AI Systems.

Step 4

Document the assessment.

Step 5

Review the assessment.

Verify that:

the classification is supported by facts;
justification is documented;
references are complete.

Step 6

Submit for approval.

The completed assessment shall be reviewed by the AI Governance Owner.

Step 7

Maintain the Register.

Whenever significant changes occur, repeat the assessment.

5. Quality Checks

Verify that:

✓ Human Oversight is defined.

✓ Classification is supported.
